Zoe and Isabella (Bella) Durcak have made impressive moves in the rowing world, representing Canada at the FISU championships. Representing both Leander Boat Club and Brock University, the sisters placed 5th overall in the Lightweight Women’s Double.
Their journey began with the Learn to Row program at Leander Boat Club. The introductory course sparked their interest, leading them to join the youth recreational program, known as Bantam. Under the guidance of their coaches, Zoe and Bella developed a passion for rowing that would drive their future successes.
Transitioning to the competitive program at Leander, the Durcak sisters quickly distinguished themselves as fierce competitors. Over the past two years, their commitment to the sport has earned them multiple Royal Canadian Henley gold medals.
Zoe and Bella’s competitive edge on the water extended to their university careers. Representing Brock University, they secured a gold medal at the Canadian University Rowing Championships in the Lightweight Women’s Double. Their synergy and strength as a team were further showcased when they earned gold and silver medals at the Ontario University Rowing Championships.
Their impressive performance at the FISU championships was the culmination of years of hard work and dedication. Coached by Leander alumni and Brock coach Mary Rao, the sisters have consistently pushed their limits, striving for excellence in every race.

On Oct. 13, the duo were 2 of 36 undergraduate students inducted into Beta Gamma Sigma which recognizes the top 10 percent of the undergraduate class. Bella is studying Accounting and Zoe is concentrating in human resources in the Bachelor of Business Administration program at Brock University.
